How to Fix a White Screen on Google Managed Arreya Devices
A white screen on a Google-managed Arreya device typically occurs when the device cannot load the Arreya Kiosk application at startup. This issue is usually caused by network offline status during initial setup or an app version sync failure within the Google Admin Console.
Follow the steps below to diagnose and resolve the issue.
Step 1: Verify Network Connectivity
If a ChromeOS device is offline and has not previously downloaded and cached the Arreya app, ChromeOS will still launch into Kiosk mode, resulting in a blank white screen.
- Check Physical Connections: Ensure Ethernet cables are securely connected or that the local Wi-Fi network is active.
- Access Device Settings: Restart the device and press Ctrl + Alt + S on the boot screen to interrupt Kiosk mode. This brings up the network selection screen so you can verify Wi-Fi credentials.
- Reboot: Once a valid internet connection is established, restart the device. The Arreya app should download and launch automatically.
Step 2: Check Device Status in Google Admin Console
If the device has a stable network connection but remains stuck on a white screen, verify its reporting status in your management console:
- Log in to the Google Admin Console.
- Go to Devices > Chrome > Devices.
- Locate the affected device and check if its status displays as Online.
Step 3: Reinstall the App via Organizational Unit (OU)
If the device is online in the console, the app may be experiencing a loading conflict or requires a fresh update push.
- In the Google Admin Console, navigate to Devices > Chrome > Apps & extensions > Kiosks.
- Select the Organizational Unit (OU) assigned to the affected device.
- Remove or re-assign the Arreya app for that OU to force Google to push down a clean installation.
- Reboot the target device to trigger the fresh app deployment.
